Stacked Stone

Stacked stone is a great way to bring a room to life. This home built in the 80's featured a simple mantle over an insert. We came in an removed the existing mantle and built onto it giving the sides some depth. 2x4 framing secured to the existing wall was covered in 1/2 inch plywood and tar paper. Wire mesh and a scratch coat were applied to prepare the surface for stone. Carefully cut to fit all the pieces are arraigned to create a fantastic looking fireplace and in this case some hearth stones were added for the finishing touch.
